What Does PBS Stand For?
PBS stands for:
Positive
Behavior
Support
Behaviour Expectations:
We have high expectations for the students in our school. We expect the students to achieve academically to their fullest potential. We expect students to contribute in a positive manner in all areas. The following is a list of our main three behavior expectations:
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
What are All the Stars About?
Stars are an important part in our PBS system. They reinforce the key expectations for the students. Students are told to walk along the stars in our hallways. This creates quiet hallways which improves the learning environment. That is why you will often hear a teacher telling his/her students to be “Safe, Straight, and Silent” in the hallways.
How are Stars Earned?
Classes or individual students, may earn stars for following the three main expectations of our school (be safe, be respectful, be responsible). We have different colors of stars for each area in our building as follows:
Hallways- Green
Bathrooms- Light Blue
Art- Orange
Music- Pink
P.E. - Red
Library- Brown
Cafeteria- Yellow
Recess- Dark Blue
Assemblies- Purple
Students can also earn stars for their bus by following the bus expectations:
- Stay Safe
- Stay Seated
- Silent on the Lot
Individual Rewards:
Students can earn individual rewards by following the school rules. Shining star tickets are given to students who demonstrate our expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. Those tickets are then given to the teacher. The student will then have a chance to win rewards as the teacher draws tickets out during the week.
Semester Rewards:
Students who do not receive any discipline referrals for the semester will be eligible for semester rewards.
