Hello!

I am Whittney Carter, the Principal of Athena Elementary! Originally from the very small town of Bernie Missouri, I moved to Cape Girardeau after high school to earn my bachelor’s degree in elementary education at SEMO.

After earning my degree, I began teaching first grade at Franklin Elementary in Cape. I spent six exciting years teaching first grade and then switched to teach fourth grade for two more fun-filled years. While I absolutely loved my time in the classroom, it was time for a new challenge. So, I earned my masters degree, also from SEMO, and began looking for leadership roles.

Not long after I found an open position working alongside my former principal, Mr. Farrow. Although it meant moving an hour away to a town where I knew no one, I was ready for the adventure! So I applied, interviewed, accepted, and made the move to De Soto in 2018 to serve as your assistant principal, and I am so glad I did!
